Privacy Policy

This is a placeholder draft. Final version is under counsel review prior to public launch.

What we collect

  • Account data: email, name, role, firm, billing details.
  • Usage data: searches you run, pages you view, downloads you initiate.
  • Public records: we aggregate publicly-filed probate records. These are not "your" personal data — they belong to the underlying public filings.

How we use it

  • To provide the search, document, and certified-copy services you pay for.
  • To improve coverage (e.g., we may use a typed search query to prioritize a county for harvesting).
  • To send transactional email (account, receipts, alerts) via Resend.
  • For aggregate analytics via PostHog.

What we share

  • Service providers: Stripe (billing), Resend (email), PostHog (analytics), Cloudflare (hosting), Supabase (database). Each has its own privacy policy.
  • Aggregated data: we may publish aggregate statistics ("X probate filings in Y county in 2025"). No individual personal data is included.
  • Compliance: we will respond to lawful subpoenas and court orders.

We do not sell your account data to third parties.

Public records & sealed records

Probate filings are public records under state law in every US jurisdiction. We index them as filed. Where a record has been sealed, expunged, or otherwise legally restricted, we honor that status. If you believe a record should be removed, see /sealed-records.

Your rights

Depending on your state, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your account data. Email privacy@probate.report.
