Supplemental Title Opinion
An update to a prior DSTO or DOTO when something material changes.
Operator title attorney + curative landmen. The work gets pulled when lateral extended; pooled unit revised; lease extended; new wellbore; ownership changed.
Births, deaths, and probates between the original opinion and the update have to be folded in. Missing one results in misallocated royalty.
Workflow
- Compare the original opinion's closing date to today
- Run a fresh runsheet for the gap period
- Identify all probate filings, AOHs, and conveyances that occurred
- Resolve any remaining gaps; issue the supplemental
